.NAME Domain Names

Introduced in 2001, the .NAME generic top-level domain name extension is the only one intended for personal websites only. These domain names can include personal or fictitious names, aliases and/or other titles people are famous by. Initially, only third-level registrations were permitted, so if you wished to secure john.doe.name, you were supposed to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was liberalized and second-level registrations were also permitted. Already taken 3rd-level domains remained running.

You will have the chance to edit the WHOIS contact information, to park your domain, to create Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an active domain to our company if you acquire its EPP transfer key from the current registrar company and we will renew it after the transfer has been finalized. There are no particular stipulations on who can book a .NAME domain name, but in order to preserve the idea behind its creation alive, the dot NAME Registry organization may check who the owner is and if there is no connection between the owner and the actual domain, the registration could be challenged.
